Lil Nas X and Take a Daytrip explore Bravo’s synth collection

Lil Nas X and Take a Day Trip pull out Bravo Ocean’s unique synth collection to explore new sounds. The Ocean Suite had no surface area or square footage left to stand in once our collection of Moogs, Oberheims, Junos, Sequentials, Mellatrons, and more filled the space. Bravo Ocean set up a full “studio inside a studio” to accommodate a familiar workflow for Lil Nas X and his engineer. The hybrid set up incorporated Bravo Ocean’s synth collection, barefoot monitors, Augspurger Monitors, Telefunken 251 Mic, and outboard gear with 2 separate standalone Apollo X16p interfaces. “We bypassed our Pro Tools HDX system and brought in the Apollo interfaces for ease of connectivity to Take A Day Trip’s computer and to run all the synths simultaneously through the console. I think we had 16 synths connected at one time so Lil Nas X and Take A Day Trip could capture or audition any sounds they wanted to on the fly. Nas could record vocals undisturbed while the guys would write on the keys. These are the sessions studios are built for and where magic is made”, says Bravo chief engineer and owner, Chahwala.
